Project MK MEGA

To make a diegetic prototype of an object or service.

I collaborated with a fellow student on this project, we decided create a combination of objects, a video, a manual and a video. This project was heavily inspired by the events of Project MK Ultra and implies that this is a branching project from that program.

Combining our research of MK Ultra with research of alternate reality games and the various conspiracy theorists which have found a platform thanks to the internet, we were able to create a combination of objects and a video to lead our audience to suspend their skepticism enough to consider that this may be real or based on truths.

We would convince our audience, through a performance/presentation, to believe we had found this device and the accompanying media on the internet. The video was the result of trying to salvage footage from a damaged VHS, the manual was heavily censored and the device itself has no other official documentation. This project succeeded in encouraging its audience to question things which were presented to them as factual by showing how invested they could become in a wholly ficticious series of events as long as they were presented in a believable manner.
